Temporary Closure of Haining Farm Sanctuary Area
Parks Victoria advises that the Haining Farm Sanctuary Area will remain temporarily closed to all visitors until approximately late Spring 2026. The closure is required to enable the continuation of targeted pest animal control activities, including ground shooting and trapping, which are critical to preparing the sanctuary for the planned release of the Lowland Leadbeater’s Possum. Key Information Closure Period: The sanctuary area will remain closed until approximately late Spring 2026. Closure Area: The fenced sanctuary is closed to all public access. The wider Haining Farm area remains open to visitors. Safety: For your safety, and to ensure the effectiveness of pest animal control operations, entry into the fenced sanctuary is strictly prohibited. Pets: Dogs and cats are not permitted within the fenced sanctuary. Visitors are requested to always keep dogs on a lead outside the sanctuary and ensure pets do not enter the fenced area. Signage: Please obey all closure signage and directions displayed on access gates and fencing. Program Timing: Closure dates may be adjusted depending on operational requirements and the successful completion of pest control objectives. These works represent an important step in Parks Victoria's long-term conservation program and will help support the successful reintroduction and protection of the Lowland Leadbeater’s Possum. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to enhance and protect local biodiversity. Contact Us For further information, please contact Parks Victoria at info@parks.vic.gov.au.
