    Area closed for pest control operation

    Areas of Bournda National Park may be closed to the public from 6pm Thursday 1 October to 6am Friday 2 October for ground shooting for feral animal control. the closed areas are: North Tura Beach Bournda Island Bournda Lagoon Bournda Beach Hobart Beach Turingal Head These areas will be open to members of the public from 6am to 6pm each day during this time period. This operation will involve the ground shooting of foxes at night for the protection of threatened shorebirds. Shooting operations will not occur every night during this closure period but will be scheduled around weather conditions and sightings of pest species. Park closure warning signs will be placed at entrances to the shooting area while shooting operations are occurring. Do not enter the closed area during shooting operations. Penalties apply for non-compliance. For more information or to confirm if a closure will be in place for a specific night, please contact the Merimbula NPWS office on 02 6495 5000.

    Hobart Beach Campground Closure

    Hobart Beach Campground is closed from Sunday the 19th April 2026 to Friday 4th December for campground upgrade works. Bournda Beach is still accessible from the ocean beach carpark at the end of Bournda road, and from the Bournda Lagoon day use area. Obey all signage and closures. Penalties apply for accessing closed areas. Contact Merimbula office on 6495 5000 for enquiries.

    Notice of 1080 ongoing baiting program

    NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an ongoing ground baiting program from Wednesday 1 July 2026 to Thursday 31 December 2026. The operation will use sodium fluoroacetate (1080) poison for the control of wild dogs and/or foxes. The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species and will take place in: Araluen Nature Reserve Badja Swamps Nature Reserve Beowa National Park Berlang State Conservation Area Bondi Gulf Nature Reserve Bournda National Park Bournda Nature Reserve Coolumbooka Nature Reserve Deua National Park Eurobodalla National Park Kooraban National Park Majors Creek State Conservation Area Mimosa Rocks National Park Monga National Park and State Conservation Area South East Forest National Park Wadbilliga National Park Signs will be placed at the entry to baiting locations. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.
