NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an ongoing aerial baiting program from Monday 28th September 2026 to Saturday 3rd October 2026. The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes. The program will take place in the following NPWS reserves throughout Hastings and Macleay Area, Coffs Coast Area and Richmond River Area: • Bagul Waajaarr Nature Reserve • Bindarri National Park • Boonanghi Nature Reserve/State Conservation Area • Carrai National Park/State Conservation Area • Cascade National Park • Cottan-Bimbang National Park • Cunnawarra National Park • Dorrigo National Park • Jobs Mountain Nature Reserve • Mount Hyland Nature Reserve/State Conservation Area • Mount Seaview Nature Reserve • New England National Park • Ngambaa Nature Reserve • Pee Dee Nature Reserve • Richmond Range National Park • Serpentine Aboriginal Area • The Castles Nature Reserve • The Cells State Conservation Area • Werrikimbe National Park • Willi Willi National Park The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise the impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock. Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance. Please contact the North Coast Branch NPWS office for more information on 02 6650 7100.
